You can enjoy panoramic views over the entire Rhine valley from the spacious terrace at Rietburg, formerly the castle of a robber baron. You can reach it comfortably and effortlessly by the Rietburg chairlift. The Rietburg Höhengaststätte is open daily for refreshments. There is a Wildlife Park Zoo in the vicinity of the castle. Numerous marked hiking trails lead from the ruins of Rietburg castle to the lodges and restaurants of the Palatinate forest.
Villa Ludwigshöhe and Peace Memorial
Do you enjoy visiting historic buildings? Then you've arrived at the right place: Schloss Villa Ludwigshöhe! You have the option of taking an easy walk to the Villa but you can also go on an exciting bike ride that ends up at the Villa and the Peace Memorial, before an interesting tour of the Villa. The Peace Memorial was built on the Werderberg mountain in 1899 to commemorate the victory in the war of 1870/71.
Kloster Heilsbruck monastery
Another historical excursion highlight is Kloster Heilsbruck. Despite its monastic past, today Kloster Heilsbruck is focussed on good living. Inside the imposing walls of the monastery you can taste excellent wines or take a fascinating tour of the cellars.
Hambacher Schloss
The castle of Hambacher Schloss has been the cradle of German democracy ever since the black, red and gold flag was flown for the first time over the Kastanienberg mountain in Neustadt in May 1832. The national memorial in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse was rebuilt based on the plans of architect Max Dudler.
