Region
infinite. Pure nature
The Bavarian King Ludwig I, father of Prince Regent Luitpold (Leopold), knew what he was doing when he chose Edenkoben as the site for his Villa Ludwigshöhe: You can count on 1800 hours of sunshine per year. And because the chestnut tree is the best proof of the southern climate, Ludwig I ordered 25,000 chestnuts to be planted around his castle - a trail that leads directly into a sea of grapevines, which is what gives this city its special charm.
Enjoy a slower pace of life in the Garden of Eden of the Palatinate
Here, people live with and from nature and treat it with respect. This is also a reason why it's a wonderful place to regain your inner balance. Anyone who's seeking to gain vitality in an era when we scarcely have an opportunity to recover, can combine the best holiday and health.
The active region from Edenkoben to Neustadt belongs to the Haardt, which marks the eastern edge of the Palatinate forest. The highest 'mountain' of the Palatinate forest, the 673-metre Kalmit is here. After an invigorating mountain tour, on clear days you can see as far as the Odenwald and the Black Forest to the north. Surrounded by meadows and forests, Hilschweiher lake is located in the Edenkoben Valley. The lake is fed by small streams and you can take romantic walks or bicycle rides around it. You can swim, fish and go boating in the lake.
